The killer Question

If you’re in this situation, then this is the killer ; Why have you been out of work for such a long time ?
You could tell the interviewer that you wanted to be a full-time parent, and you could tell them you’ve failed every other interview, but it will sometimes seem like you’ve told them you’ve been in prison for murder !

The best solution is to answer briefly and continue talking. A good example would be ‘I decided to care for my children for a period, and now I’m keen to progress in my career. My aim is to find a role where … and your advertisement made me eager to apply.’
